Is there a secure method that allows a new user to connect to the site in a one-time manner via the email verification button link for improved UX?

For your use case maybe signInWithOpt() method can help you.

This does not seem like a suitable solution because registering an email with a password (with a requirement for email verification) and registering an OTP/Magic Link (which is without a password) are two different methods that do not integrate well.

I am looking for a method where the "Email Verification" link itself will serve as a Magic Link, meaning that it will handle the email verification and also automatically log the user into the site (the idea is to keep a password-based connection available to the user)
