Filter posts by tag or category

Is there a way to Filter posts by tag or category, i've seen it on ejs but on pug I keep getting Converting circular structure to JSON or nothing at all. Sorry if this is not the place to ask for help.

I'm trying locally, I'm new to hexo. For example, here's an example for ejs I found that works:

site.tags.findOne({name: 'featured'}).posts.forEach(function(post) {
    // do what you have to do with each post
})

so i tried something similar on pug

      each post in site.posts.data
        h1= post.title
        span= post.categories //output: [object Object]
        each category in post.categories
          span= category // output: nothing

each category in post.categories.data i get the error Converting circular structure to JSON

I had similar issue and I made it with tag in this way

        each post in site.posts.data
          each tag in post.tags.data
            if(tag.name === 'YourTagHere') // filter tag
              li
                h1= post.title

Did not find solution for categories
