Special Thanks to Kurfurst.

First off, a quick foreword on how and why this update came to be.

Detailed Changelog Here.

🆑

  • experiment: The Cult Eclipse Update is here!
  • rscadd: Cultists have a new UI Panel that enables easier tracking of the cult's members, their objectives, and lots of other important information.
  • rscadd: As cultists perform occult activities and complete objectives, they generate devotion which both grants them Tattoos imbued with new powers, but also quickens the arrival of the new Eclipse event.
  • rscadd: During the Eclipse, all lights aboard the station are dimmed, highly reducing visibility. The cult can use the new (very old in fact) Tear Reality rune during the eclipse to start a ritual that can let them end the round. If the Eclipse ends without the ritual being attempted, the crew will be safe from Nar-Sie for this round.
  • rscadd: If the cult attempts to raise Nar-Sie, they will have to defend a Blood Stone for a certain amount of time, and from that point onward all cultists will have a visible halo betraying their appearance to the crew. If the Blood Stone is destroyed, the ritual will end, and the cult will receive various handicaps, such has the halo remaining visible, and the cultist cap falling to zero.
  • rscadd: The Scoreboard now lists cultists in order of how much devotion they generated. The cult now "wins" or "loses" following various conditions, each with a different message on the scoreboard. A cult that couldn't raise Nar-Sie can still get a victory by having some of its members escape alive and free aboard the shuttle.
  • rscadd: The Eclipse event also has a small chance to occur during non-cult rounds, keeping some uncertainty around until actual occult shit is witnessed.
  • experiment: Check the detailed changelog linked in [Cult 4] "NAR-SIE'S COMEBACK", Upheaval Update Part 2 aka "The Eclipse Update" #36361 for a more information and more details on the various changes.

the death of kurfurst has been the sacrifice needed to being narsie to the endgame, getting to portal in like a Marvel Avengers moment, in a real life superhero situation, complete with the red and black NarSymbol, AquaMayne, and the Folding Chair, the comic book red-shirted goons of security throw the first punch, dynamic supremecists started this confrontation and cult folks decisively won it in every way possible: morally, numerically, legally, and on the media, seeing cult folk come in as a religious community to the developer's rescue, one guy even private messaging him in the middle of the night to remind him, has truly been a 'Wakanda Assemble' moment

Development - that's how it's done ✊

I look forward to seeing what the win ratio for cult looks like over the course of the next month.

Do holy implants block shading
If they don't they should, no such thing as a subdued cultist that can shade

Won't lie my eyes glazed over most of the bulky code for UI, various rituals, dance code, and all that beefy jazz. But overall seems decent with some points that need improving, and I do think devotion values will need balancing. 30 per hit for a shade versus 500 to sacrifice a human doesn't really add up.

To give context, gaining devotion both has a value, and a tier, the more devotion you have overall, the less devotion you gain from lower tier methods. Hitting people with cult weapons for example remains a fairly efficient way of generating devotion early on but falls off after a while especially if you hit mindless mobs, meanwhile the devotion generated from sacrifices remains at 500 no matter how much you've already acquired.

In other words, better not do sacrifices early if you want to top the scoreboard.

edit: that being said devotion will absolutely need tweaking but I think the current values are good as "starting values" and I'll do that following observations during rounds.

Looks really good; lots of good effort went into this. Many of my comments are just suggestions/preference as most of the testing for this will have to happen on the live server.
